Christmas Island

A bit of a trick question, this one. There is a bigger island in the Pacific Ocean, which used to be called Christmas Island, but is now known as Kiritimati (a transliteration of 'Christmas' into the local language). Kiritimati belongs to the Republic of Kiribati.

To be fair, the setter did remove any ambiguity for the well–informed contestant by mentioning Flying Fish Cove. I wonder how many were that well informed?

Then again, as it was a supplementary, I wonder how many actually got asked it! Not that that's any excuse ...
